In an attempt to break out of my sandwich rut, I packed slices of homemade rye bread, cheese, and prunes for lunch today. My coworker Anna pointed out that this is not that different than usual… but it’s a start, right?

We had dinner with my family last night, featuring Pad Thai made by my brother. I think I watched closely enough that I could duplicate it on my own, since his version wasn’t too complicated. He made a sauce from tamarind, fish sauce, chili paste, and palm sugar, and stir-fried the noodles in that, adding scrambled egg and crushed peanuts on top at the end. Mmm. If there had been leftovers to take home, that would be perfect for lunch.
